One source lot. Its own story.
This record belongs to our first Tupelo honey lot, BB-H-2025-000001. Its laboratory reference is Jonah Ventures sample S123891. We keep each lot's evidence with that lot, so the honey's story stays connected to its source.
Buzzberry Farms confirms that a barrel of this tested source honey was used for our first Tupelo Reserve batch. The floral results on this page describe the honey before cask aging.
The science behind the floral profile
Discovering the plants pollinators visit
Jonah Ventures uses Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to identify pollen through plant DNA in honey and pollen samples. Detected sequences are compared with plant references, and their frequency can be expressed as relative abundance.
The laboratory describes uses ranging from investigating geographic origin and verifying labeling to forensics, pollen and health research, and beekeeper education. This gives researchers and beekeepers a way to explore the many plants pollinators visit, from willows to water lilies.
For this lot, the findings below show the floral DNA profile of sample S123891. The laboratory's broader capabilities do not mean this sample provides an origin certification or a health claim.

The floral signal in this sample
Jonah Ventures reported 86.11% Nyssa (Tupelo) relative abundance. The sample was received December 16, 2025 and analyzed January 30, 2026.
These are laboratory dates, not harvest dates.
| Taxon | Common reference | Relative abundance |
|---|---|---|
| Nyssa | Tupelo | 86.11% |
| Magnolia | Magnolia | 4.16% |
| Vitis | Grape | 4.09% |
| Rubus | Blackberry | 3.13% |
| Ligustrum | Privet | 1.27% |
| Ilex | Holly | 1.24% |
How to read these results
Relative abundance describes the floral DNA signal reported for this sample. It is not a measurement of nectar volume, honey content or purity. The listed plant identifications are at genus level; Nyssa does not establish a particular Tupelo species.
These results belong to this source-honey sample. They are not test results for the finished cask-aged honey or its alcohol content.
Georgia, at the source
Georgia is the recorded source origin for this Tupelo lot. We keep exact apiary locations private. The harvest month and regional map area for this record have not yet been confirmed.
The separately documented May 2026 Tupelo harvest has its own sample, results and map.
From this source honey to Tupelo Reserve
A barrel of this tested honey was selected for our first Tupelo Reserve batch. We aged the honey in previously used American oak bourbon casks for approximately 14 weeks, with daily hand-rolling for this first release.
The source honey and finished Reserve share this production connection. The floral percentages above describe the source honey before aging.
